Coker Esports Defeats Newberry In Week One of Overwatch

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker University Esports team faced off against Newberry College in the first week of the Tespa Varsity season.

The first map was Ilios, and it was a back and forth battle with Newberry winning the first round and Coker winning the second. The third round went to Newberry's favor, and they won map one. Map two was Dorado, and Coker was able to push the map continuously without being stopped. Coker was then able to prevent Newberry from getting to the final point to win map two. Madison Schmidt had a 30KDA on Dorado while playing as Pharah. The third map was Eichenwalde, and Coker yet again was able to push through the point with over four minutes left on the clock. This time Newberry College was able to push the cart through the map as well, but they did so only with a few seconds left on the clock. This meant that for the next round Newberry only had a minute to push the cart, while Coker had over four and a half minutes. On Newberry's second attempt they were unable to unlock the first point. Coker was able to answer by getting the point and winning the map and the match 2-1.

Coker starts the season at 1-0 and will return on Saturday (Feb. 29) at 9:00 PM as they face Murray State University.
