HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College Hearthstone team had two Hearthstone matches on Monday (Feb. 25) with their main roster playing their third match of the season and the B team playing their first.

The B team started first against Rice University, and they brought their Midrange Hunter, Odd Paladin, and Odd Mage decks and Rice brought their Topsy-Turvey Priest, Midrange Hunter, and Odd Paladin. Coker started off with their Paladin deck and Rice started with their Priest. Rice was able to live while on low health for a few turns but Coker found their lethal a few turns later. Next, Coker used their Hunter decks against Rice's Priest and with a great opening hand, Coker was able to win in only a few turns. Last was Coker's Mage decks and Rice decided to try their Priest deck one last time. Coker was able to get the third win against the deck and won the match 3-0.

Next up was the Varsity match against USC-Sumter which was a battle of the control decks. The first match was an Odd Warrior versus Odd Warrior game that went for 45 minutes, 15 minutes longer than the B team's entire match. USC was one turn away from winning with Mecha'thun but Coker was able to find lethal. The second match was Odd Mage versus Odd Warrior, which started off close. Coker came ahead once they were able to get value with two copies of Jan'alai and a Lich King from their Stonehill Defender. Coker took the lead 2-0 and they just needed to take a win with their Mid-range Hunter, and USC took on this deck with their Odd Warrior once again. Coker started off this game strong and USC was unable to control the board leading to another 3-0 win for the Cobras.

The win puts Coker at 1-2 on the season and their next match will be against Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday (Feb. 26) and you can watch the match at www.twitch.tv/cokeresports.
