Esports Wraps Up Preseason Play by Defeating Champlain

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker just competed in their final week of the Overwatch Tespa Preseason, and were scheduled two rematches against Champlain College and UCLA Sunday (Dec. 2) night. Unfortunately, UCLA was not able to play and had to forfeit their match. The Cobras defeated Champlain 2-1.

Coker started their final match against Champlain on Busan with a back and forth battle. The Cobras took the first round with a clean 100% to 0%, but Champlain wouldn't give up. They took the second round and almost earned the shutout as well, but Coker was able to take it back at 99%. Although they were able to regain control it was not enough and Champlain won the second round. Coker came back in the third round and picked up the shutout again taking the first map.

The second map was Hanamura and Coker was prepared for the map. They were able to take the two points with 4:22 left to spare. Next up was Champlain's turn to attack and Coker was able to hold them off the first point for three minutes. Champlain was able to capture the second point as well but Coker was able to stall long enough for them to run out of time. This meant that all Coker needed to do was receive a single tick on the first point. Champlain protected that tick for three minutes before Coker was finally able to push through their defenses to win the map and the match 2-1.

This marks the end for Coker's preseason and they end it with a 14-6 record. The Cobras will return in the Spring semester for the regular season. You can keep up to date with the Cobras during the off season by following them on Twitter at www.twitch.tv/cokeresports.
