Esports Downs Mississippi State in League of Legends

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College esports team downed the Mississippi State University (MSU) Bulldogs in the League of Legends Collegiate Star League Preseason on Saturday (Nov. 10).

The Cobras started off the match strong and secured every dragon that spawned in the game. Stephen Gifford-Reis earned a quadra kill in the final minutes, sealing the game one victory for the Cobras.

The second game was much more competitive as MSU went on a very early lead. The Cobras found themselves at a 5K Gold disadvantage, and their base was broken open in the mid and bot lanes. MSU went to Baron to try to seal the victory, but Gifford-Reis came up with a big play to steal the Baron. MSU came back to take the Elder Drake, but Coker was able to hold off long enough for the buff to wear off. Next, MSU tried to engage on Aden Vermeersch, but with some nice kiting and help from his teammates, Vermeersch was able to stay alive and win the fight. This allowed the Cobras to end the game and win the match 2-0.

The Cobras are now in the playoffs and will play next Saturday (Nov. 17) at 3pm in the round of 64 match. If the Cobras win, they will play the second playoff round on the same day. Fans can catch all of the action on the Cobras Twitch channel at www.twitch.tv/cokeresports.
