HOW IT HAPPENED:
UNC Pembroke struck first Tuesday night, plating one in the top of the first inning. That one run was the only run starting pitcher Kyle Stock allowed in his four innings pitched.
The Cobras responded in the third, in a big way. The inning started with the Cobras putting pressure on the Braves. Adam Wilkerson reached base safely to start the inning and Hunter Poole singled the next at bat. Gabriel Santiago then reached base safely on an error, and Coker was on the board. After a Luke Keller single, Jaylen Mack gave the Cobras the lead, reaching safely on yet another Braves error. Santiago then scored on a passed ball a batter later, and then Cameron Ferrell brought in Keller. At the innings end, Coker had plated four runs on just two hits.
Stock continued to keep the Braves from plating runs in his four innings, before turning the ball over to Landon Reeves. UNC Pembroke was able to tie the game at four in the fifth after plating two. Coker quickly retook that lead in the bottom half when Luke Alford worked a bases loaded walk. The Cobras never gave that lead up.
Britton Adams came on in relief in the fifth and was shut down for Coker. He struck out six batters over the course of his four innings of work, and only allowed one run. In his final inning of work, he saw the minimum batters from the Braves, quickly getting the Cobras back in the dugout.
Coker added an insurance run in the eighth when Gabriel Santiago singled, scoring Ian Miller. That run proved to be the difference maker, as Tyler Satterley came on in the ninth and allowed just one run to shut the door on the Braves.
Adams earned his second win of the season, while Satterley picked up his second save on the season.
