HOW IT HAPPENED:
G1:
In game one, the two teams were quiet through the first two innings. In the top half of the third, Ohio Dominican got on the board first, plating two. Casey Cleghorn pitched well for the Cobras on the day, working quick innings early for Coker.
The fifth inning is when the Cobras started their rally. Adam Wilkerson started the inning with a walk, and later moved to third on a single from Luke Peterson. Peterson was 2 for 3 in the game, proving to be a spark for the Cobras. Two batters later, Wilkerson scored on a wild pitch, to bring the game to within one.
The Panthers then added another run, making the game 3-1 in the sixth. After a quick seventh, Coker exploded. Cameron Ferrell and Ick Cirino each singled early in the inning, setting the stage. Kyler Odom then delivered a two RBI double to the wall in left center, and Jaylen Mack brought him in just one batter later with a triple. Rocco Wojcik also got in on the action, adding his first RBI of his career, and when the damage was done, Coker had plated five in the inning.
Cooper Thomas got the ball in the eighth, and was lights out for the Cobras. He allowed just two hits over the course of the two innings, and only allowed one run to help Coker win game one 6-4. He earned the save in game one, while Britton Adams picked up his first win of the year.
G2:
In game two, Coker started their offense early and often. Cirino jumped on an early pitch and singled, and just two batters later Kyler Odom brought him in with a single of his own. Mack, Peterson, and Ferrell then pounded out three straight hits to extend the Cobra lead. Alex Lazar would later single in the inning, and by the time the damage was done Coker had plated five on six hits.
Tyler Satterley started for the Cobras, and got off to a great start. He saw four batters or less in the first three innings, as he often struck out Panther batters time and time again during his outing. Satterley pitched 3.2 innings before allowing a hit. In the bottom of the second Coker added six more runs taking a demanding 11-0 lead. Peterson, Lazar, Wilkerson, and Santiago all recorded RBI singles in the inning to help Coker's offense continue to plate runs.
After a quiet third, Coker added seven more in the fourth inning. The scoring started when Luke Keller pinch hit, and roped a single to left field scoring two. The Cobras then added runs with aggressive base running, and then Cirino singled to eventually help Coker plate seven in the inning. Coker then shut down the Panthers throughout the remainder of the evening, and eventually took down Ohio Dominican in game two 18-1.
Tyler Satterley pitched all seven innings on the night, and earned his second win of the season.
