Cobras Drop a Conference Playoff Game Against Wingate

Hartsville, SC- In a hard-fought battle, Coker's baseball team fell to Wingate in a close 5-4 game on May 4, 2024. With this loss, the Cobras end their season after making the playoffs after being ranked on the bottom half of the bracket.

Coker got on the board first with a run in the fourth inning, but Wingate responded with two runs in the second inning to take the lead. Coker then rallied in the fifth inning with a three-run double by K. Hanna to regain the lead. However, Wingate tied the game in the sixth inning with a run of their own.

The game remained tied until the tenth inning when Wingate's B. Ishmael hit a walk-off home run to secure the victory for his team.

Despite the loss, Coker put up a strong fight with standout performances from Kody Hanna, who had three RBIs, and Jacob Yarberry, who contributed with a key RBI single. On the mound, Cody Chapman, Garrett Dunn, and Tyler Satterley combined for a solid effort, but ultimately fell short against a resilient Wingate team.

Although the season ended on a tough note for Coker, the team showed determination and talent throughout the season, and they will look to build on their successes for future seasons.
