Cobras Take Control on the Road as They Sweep Carson-Newman

Game 1

The Coker Cobras defeated the Carson-Newman Eagles 8-4 in game two of the South Atlantic Conference series. The Cobras got off to a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning. They added one run in the fourth, two in the sixth, and two in the ninth to secure the victory.

Jaylen Mack had a big game for Coker, going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Donavan Frayer also contributed with two RBIs. On the mound, Cody Chapman picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing three runs.

Carson-Newman tried to rally, scoring one run in the second, two in the third, and one in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to overcome Coker's lead. Ryan Potts had a strong game for the Eagles, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Game 2

The Coker Cobras came away with a series sweep against Carson-Newman after a 5-2 victory in their latest matchup. The Cobras took an early lead and never looked back, scoring three runs in the third inning followed by two more in the fifth. Jaylen Mack led the offensive charge, driving in two runs, while Hunter Poole and Cameron Ferrell also contributed with an RBI each.

Pitcher Collin Breland had a solid performance on the mound, allowing just two runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings of work. Tyler Satterley came in for relief and closed out the game to earn the save.

Carson-Newman fought hard but fell short, with Tanner Kilgore and Logan Floyd each driving in a run. Pitcher Grif Hughes took the loss after giving up three runs over four innings.

With this win, Coker improves to 23-24 overall and 16-14 in SAC play, while Carson-Newman drops to 31-18 overall and 20-10 in the conference. With this win, Cobras will host the first round of playoffs May 3-4.
