Cobras Fall to Jaguars in Non-Conference Play
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker baseball team came up just short in their mid-week non-conference game against Augusta University on Wednesday (Mar. 2) by a scoreline of 4-2.

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker baseball team came up just short in their mid-week non-conference game against Augusta University on Wednesday (Mar. 2) by a scoreline of 4-2.
The Jaguars utilized a three run second inning to propel them to the victory. The Cobras added one run in the sixth inning on an Ashby Vining RBI double that scored Reilly Hall to trim the deficit to 3-1. Augusta tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning and Coker struck back for a run in the bottom of the seventh on a Phill Griffor RBI HBP to make it 4-2. The Jaguars would hold on to claim the win.
The Cobras were led offensively by senior Bryan Castillo, who recorded two base hits and scored a run in the losing effort. Hall, Griffor, Vining, and Tristen Melvin all picked up a hit on the afternoon. Collin Breland, Reid Watkins, Ethan Graham, and Brendan Mullins all provided solid relief out of the bullpen, combining to pitch 5 ⅔ scoreless innings.
The Cobras will be back in action on the diamond this weekend (Mar. 4-5) when they travel to Hickory, N.C. to take on the #24 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in South Atlantic Conference action. Live video and statistics can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
