Baseball Drops Heartbreaker to No.11 Tusculum

Kodak, Tenn - The Coker University baseball team dropped its elimination game against No. 11 Tusculum in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Saturday (Apr. 24). 

 

Neither team would score until the fifth, when the Pioneers would plate one run. Coker would strike back in the bottom of the fifth when Jackson Williams would score from Lake Lybrand's single through the left side to tie things up at 1-1.

 

Coker's go-ahead run would come in the sixth from Drew Klaserner's sacrifice fly to left, scoring Phill Griffor. The Cobras would take a 3-1 lead in the sixth when Reilly Hall would score on Kody Hanna's single to right center. 

 

Tusculum would tie the game back up in the seventh at 3-3. 

 

Both teams would remain deadlocked until the ninth, when the Pioneers would score four runs in the top of the ninth to put the game at its final score.

 

Chris Watkins, would set a new career high for strikeouts with six over 4.1 innings of work where he allowed just two hits and one run. 

 

This concludes the 2021 season for Coker Baseball.
