Baseball Splits with Lenoir-Rhyne
Hickory, N.C. - The Coker University baseball team split its nonconference doubleheader with Lenoir-Rhyne University today (April 13), winning game one 5-0 and dropping game two 3-5.
Game one
Coker would take a 2-0 lead in the second from Jackson Williams's two-run home run that scored Kody Hanna.
The Cobras would add two more runs in the fourth when Drew Klaserner and Reilly Hall would score from a Lenoir-Rhyne throwing error, putting Coker up 4-0.
Coker would add an insurance run from Bryan Castillo's home run over the left field wall, bringing the final game score to 5-0.
Garett Dunn (1-0) would pick up the win for the Cobras, only allowing one hit over four innings of work.
Game Two
Neither team would score until the fourth, when the Bears would plate two from a home run putting them up 2-0.
Coker would cut into the L-R lead from Hanna's home run over the right field wall.
Lenoir Rhyne would score three more in the fifth to put them up 5-1.
In the sixth Coker would score two from Reilly Hall's home run over the right field wall, plating Phill Griffor, bringing the final game score to 5-3.
The Cobras are back in action this weekend when they host No. 22 Carson Newman in a weekend conference doubleheader series. First pitch is set for Saturday (April 17) at 12 p.m., with live coverage at www.cokercobras.com
