
Baseball Splits with UVA Wise in Day One of Series
WISE, Va. - The Coker University baseball team split its doubleheader with UVA Wise today (April 2), falling in game one 8-4 and defeating the Cavaliers 10-4 in game two.

WISE, Va. - The Coker University baseball team split its doubleheader with UVA Wise today (April 2), falling in game one 8-4 and defeating the Cavaliers 10-4 in game two.
Game One
Drew Klaserner's double to center would plate Reilly Hall, putting Coker up 1-0 in the first. UVA Wise would plate four in the bottom of the first to take the 4-1 advantage.
In the third, Hall's sacrifice fly to center would score Lake Lybrand, cutting into the Cavalier lead making it 4-2. UVA Wise would respond in the bottom half of the third by plating three more runs, making it 7-2.
In the fourth, Kody Hanna would send one over the right field wall, bringing the score to 7-3.
UVA Wise plated one more run in the sixth to make it 8-3.
In the eighth, Hall would send a solo shot over the right field wall, bringing the game to its final score at 8-4.
Game Two
Drew Klaserner's single would bring home Phill Griffor to put Coker up 1-0 early in the first.
The very next at-bat, Kody Hanna would launch a three-run rocket over the right field wall for his second home run of the day to put Coker up 4-0 with only one out.
Cam Murray's infield single would later plate Jackson Williams, giving Coker a commanding 5-0 lead early in game two.
UVA Wise would chip into the Coker lead in the bottom half of the first by plating three runs, making it 5-3.
In the second, Klaserner's double to right would plate Hall, extending Coker's lead to 6-3. Coker would add another in the third from Hall's RBI groundout that scored Murray, making it 7-3.
The Cavaliers would plate their final run of the day in the fourth making it 7-4.
In the sixth, Hanna's single would bring home Hall, extending the Cobra lead to 8-4.
Coker would add two more runs in the eighth, first from Klaserner's solo home run over the right field wall (9-4) and another from Jackson Williams single to right, scoring Hanna to bring the game to its final score at 10-4.
Jonathan Ford (1-0) picked up the win for the Cobras. Ford scattered three hits while striking out seven over 4.0 innings of work for Coker.
