Hollifield, Wofford Record 100 Career Strikeouts as Coker Splits With Anderson (S.C.) Saturday
HARTSVILLE, S.C - The Coker University Baseball team split its doubleheader with Anderson (S.C.), dropping game one 4-2 before winning game two 7-5. Tanner Wofford and Griffin Hollifield each recorded their 100th career strikeouts in the nightcap victory.

Game 1:
The Trojans would score early in the first off of a two-run home run from Chandler Castleberry. Anderson would score again in the top of the third off a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-0. Coker's offense would score two in the third, scoring first from Reilly Hall's RBI fielder's choice that brought home Nick Leonard. Coker would plate one more in the third off of Cam Murray's RBI double to left, bringing home Hall to get the Cobras back within one at 3-2.
Anderson would score again in the sixth to bring the final score to 4-2.
Game 2:
Anderson would jump out ahead in the first, plating one off of an RBI single to make it 1-0 headed into the bottom of the first.
Hall would score on a wild pitch from Anderson starter Sebastian Martinez in the first to tie it up at 1-1. Coker would gain the lead when catcher Bryan Castillo would score off of an Anderson balk to gain the 2-1 over the Trojans.
Anderson would plate three runs in the third to re-take the lead over Coker at 4-2.
The Cobras would strike back in the fourth, first from Cam Harvey's sacrifice fly to right field scoring Leonard to bring Coker within one at 4-3. Coker would plate the tying run from Lake Lybrand's RBI single to right-center, scoring Corey Listing.
In the seventh Coker's offense would come alive, scoring three to take the 7-4 lead. The Cobras would plate the go-ahead run when Hall would score off Murray's RBI double to center field. Phil Griffor's single through the right side would bring home Murray to give Coker the two-run advantage. Castillo would later score from Leonard's sac fly to left to give the Cobras a 7-4 lead.
Anderson would try to make a comeback in the ninth as they plated one to make a final score of 7-5
Wofford would get the start for the Cobras where he would strikeout three over 2.1 innings of work. Wofford would earn his 100th career strikeout in his outing.
Sophomore RHP Chris Watkins (1-1) would get the win for Coker. Watkins struck out four over 3.0 innings of work.
Hollifield pitched well in relief for the Cobras. Hollifield earned the save, striking out four over 2.0 innings of work, laying down the Trojans side in the eighth Hollifield would also earn his 100th career strikeout during his outing.
The defensive play of the game came in the ninth when left fielder Hall would chase down the potential game-tying run from Anderson's right fielder Nick Vella's line out deep to the left-center wall, sending Hall crashing into the outfield wall before he would come up with the out.
Coker is back in action Sunday (Feb. 28) at home as the Cobras finish their weekend series against Anderson, with first pitch set for noon. Live stats and video will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
