Baseball Drops Opening Day Doubleheader Against Lenoir-Rhyne

Game One
Lenoir-Rhyne got things started by scoring in the first inning, before plating two more runs in the second.
Coker would answer in the third inning as Cory Listing would double to left-center and later score on Phill Griffor's RBI single through the left side.
The Bears answered again in the fifth inning by bringing in six runs to take a commanding 9-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
The Bears would continue their offensive momentum to carry the game to its final score.
Sophomore Nolan Ledger pitched well in relief for the Cobras, allowing only one earned run on three hits over 2.1 innings of work while walking one and striking out three.
Game Two
Lenoir-Rhyne got things started by rattling off seven runs in the first and an additional run in the second inning.
Coker's offense would heat up in the top of the third when they scored first off Nick Leonard's RBI walk to score Reilly Hall, and again when Lake Lybrand would be hit by a pitch to score Cory Listing.
Coker would strike again in the fourth off of Bryan Castillo's sacrifice fly to left field plating Cam Murray, bringing the score to 8-3.
Lenoir-Rhyne's offense would surge in the seventh by scoring three to take a commanding 11-3 lead. The Bears would go on to plate two more in the eighth to bring the score to 13-3.
Senior Griffin Hollifield had a strong relief outing for the Cobras, allowing only two hits and striking out six over 5.1 innings of work.
Coker returns back to action Saturday (Feb. 20) as they travel to Mount Olive, N.C. for a noon doubleheader against the University of Mount Olive. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
