Coker Drops Series Finale to Anderson 16-12

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker University baseball team dropped the final game of the series versus the Anderson University Trojans on Sunday (Feb. 23) by a score of 16-12.

It was a back and forth game of baseball on Sunday afternoon. After the Trojans jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Cobras came rallying back as Zach Capaldi and Jonathan Barham each got RBI singles to tie the game. In the fourth inning, Casey Demko doubled down the right field line to give the Cobras a 5-4 lead. Anderson took the lead back in the bottom of the fifth, but a Jonathan Barham home run to left field gave Coker the lead once again, 7-6.

The Trojans pulled away, going into the ninth up 16-8. However, the Cobras did not quit. Coker managed to score four runs, including a Vito Castronovo RBI single as Anderson held on for the 16-12 victory.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 26) when they travel to Augusta, Georgia to take on the Augusta University Jaguars. First pitch is set for 3:00, with live coverage available at www.cokercobras.com.
