McCabe, Demko, Lybrand Earn South Atlantic Conference Honors

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- The Coker College baseball team had three players receive South Atlantic Conference awards, the conference announced Tuesday (Apr. 23).

Larry McCabe and Casey Demko earned All-Conference Honorable Mention nods at first base and shortstop respectively while second baseman Lake Lybrand earned All-Defensive team honors.

McCabe (Virginia Beach, Va.) enjoyed one of the most impressive offensive seasons in Coker baseball history, posting a .342 batting average, with 10 home runs and 41 RBI. McCabe led the conference with five triples. His 14 career home runs ranks second all-time in school history, while his 10 home runs this season are tied for the second most in a single season.

Demko established himself as one of the best all-around threats in the league, posting a .378 on-base percentage while playing superb defense at the shortstop position all season long. The junior from Xenia, OH batted .362 with a .508 on-base percentage at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium.

Lybrand earned All-Defensive honors with an eye-popping .989 fielding percentage at second base. He finished with just two errors all season long, while helping turn 24 double plays. The junior from Lexington, S.C. enjoyed a terrific year at the plate as well, posting a .398 on-base percentage while knocking in 17 runs.

The Cobras travel to Kodak, Tenn. on Thursday where they'll take on Wingate in South Atlantic Conference Championships. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
