Cobras Split Doubleheader With Trojans

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Coker College baseball team split their South Atlantic Conference doubleheader with Anderson on Saturday (Apr. 13).

The Cobras dropped the first game, but rebounded with a walkoff victory in game two.

Coker fell behind 2-0 in the second game, but scored a run in the third inning off of an Austin Morris RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Cobras tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning when Larry McCabe and Chase Bruno executed a double steal of second base and home.

Tanner Crosby put Coker ahead 3-2 in next inning with a single to left field scoring Lake Lybrand.

The Trojans answered with a run in the top of the fifth in inning, but the Cobra persevered, breaking the tie in the bottom of the seventh for the walkoff victory.

Grant Thompson opened the inning with a double, and eventually scored the winning run off a Larry McCabe sacrifice fly.

Griffin Hollifield picked up the victory, pitching 2.1 perfect innings of relief. Hollifield is now 3-2 on the season.

The Cobras will be back in action on Sunday (Apr. 14), when they conclude their series with the Trojans. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
