Cobras Square Off Against Wingate in Weekend Conference Series

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College baseball team will play host to the visiting Wingate University Bulldogs for a Friday and Saturday (March 16 & 17) three-game South Atlantic Conference series. Friday will feature a single, nine-inning affair with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. Saturday the Cobras and Bulldogs will play a doubleheader, with game one beginning at 12:00 p.m., with game two following 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Coker brings in conference opponent, Wingate University for another South Atlantic Conference series held at Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium.

The Cobras are coming off of a 9-4 midweek victory over Claflin University, where the Coker offense collected 13 hits, helping end their recent skid.

Senior outfielder Brooks Estrada continues to lead the Navy and Gold in several offensive categories, holding a .405 / .450 / .568 (AVG / OBP / SLG) slash-line heading into the weekend. Estrada added three more hits, including a home run against the Panthers on Tuesday (March 13) as he drove in three runs, scored twice, walked, and stole a base.

Freshman outfielder Reilly Hall has done the Cobras well hitting from the leadoff spot, holding the team's highest on-base percentage at the .474 mark to include a team-leading 14 walks.

The Cobras and Bulldogs will take the field on Friday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. from Tom J. New Field at Dave Schmotzer Stadium. The two teams will play a doubleheader, with game one (nine-innings) beginning at 12:00 p.m., with game two (seven-innings) following 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
