Senior Kaylin Francavilla has earned Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.
HIGH POINT, NC. - Kaylin Francavilla has been tabbed the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week for her efforts in the teams win over Lander Friday night. She competed in 10 heats over the course of all 6 events on the night.
Throughout the night, Kaylin contributed to six scores above a 9.4 including three season high scores in the Five Element Acro, Inversion Pyramid, and Quad Tumbling heats. Her night was highlighted by a 9.4/9.7 in the Inversion Pyramid heat, a 9.5/10 in Duo Pyramid and a 9.65/10 in the Open Pyramid to help the Cobras win the Pyramid event.
A few other high scores include a 9.45/10 in Five Element Acro, a 9.45/10 in Compulsory Pyramid and a 9.4/10 in Compulsory Toss with a win in the Compulsory Event. Francavilla also played a huge role in the team event competing in the running tumbling section, both toss sections, both pyramid sections, and both acro sections. She competes both a straddle backbend pyramid and a pike backbend pyramid throughout the event, a change from the previous meets to help decrease deductions on the fourth pyramid. She also bases a full toss which helped increase the toss difficulty to ultimately give the Cobras close to a 2 point start value advantage going into the team event. This event helped propel Coker above Lander to ultimately win the meet by 3 points.
The Cobras took down the Bearcats by a final score of 245.755 to 242.395. This is the third time this season a Cobra has brought home a weekly award.
