Coker Takes Runner Up and Secures Spot at Nationals in Conference Carolinas Finals

Greenwood, SC - The Coker University Acrobatics and Tumbling Team took an impressive 2nd place at the Conference Carolinas Finals as a second year program and secured their position at Nationals. 

Starting off the meet Coker scored an impressive 37.050, just trailing Limestone's 37.725. The Cobras fell short in the Tumbling Heat of the Compulsory Event, but excelled in the Acro Heat and continued to give Limestone very little room to breathe. Next up in the Acro Event, Coker kicked off with scoring 9.700 in Heat 1 and quickly followed up with 9.125 in Heat 2. The Cobras posted another 9.450 points in Heat 3, bringing their running total to 65.235 just short of Limestone's 66.700. The meet was head to head and the Cobras kept fightinig for their place on the podium. Their fight paying off, Coker went into the Pyramid Event of the meet and excelled as they usually do. Heat 1 posted 9.850 points while Heat 2 collected 9.750. Once again, the Cobras proved masterful in their Open Pyramid with another perfect 10. With that perfect 10, Coker tied the meet up at an even 94.925 with Limestone. Limestone insistent on keeping their lead, took the Cobras up by 1.35 points in the Toss Event. Despite the lead by Limestone, Coker put up another 26.150 points with Heat 1 scoring 9.025. Heat 2 added 8.850 while Heat 3 gave Coker another 8.275 points. Cobras with high energy and happy spirits, they headed into the Tumbling Event. Although falling short in Heat 2 and Heat 3 of the event, Coker continued to persevere against Limestone and claimed 48.875 points in Tumbling. This brought their running total to 169.950 compared to Limestone's 177.650 points. Heading into the team event still hopeful to pull it out, Coker scored 88.300 out of 100.700 points and fell came up short of Limestone. 

Coker finshed the regular season 7-3 and qualified for the NCATA nationals in the open pyramid and inversion pyramid.   The Cobras also had six athletes make the Conference Carolinas All-Conference Team. Those athletes consisted of Madison McAfeePaula UrquidiAmber GarciaKayla YoungChloe Hull, and Lelia Brozowski.
