Coker Takes King by Storm in Quarterfinals Round

Hartsville, SC - The Coker University Acrobatics and Tumbling Team defeated King University on Tuesday (April 11th) for their first program post-season match.

Beginning with the Compulsory Event, Coker started off hot with 037.350 points over King's 036.300. Amber Garcia, Lelia Brozowski, Hannah Helms, and Paula Urquidi proved to be masters in Heat 1 of Compulsory as they performed each movement with ease. Heat 2 scored 9.900 individual points for the Cobras while Heat 3 registered 9.900 points. Continuing into the Acro Event of the meet, Coker collected 9.650 points in Heat 1. The Cobras brought in 19.200 points in the remaining two heats of Acro. King also scored an additional 26. 850 points in the second event of the competition. Heading into the Pyramid Event, Lelia Brozowski demonstrated complete control on top of the Inversion Pyramid and scored an impressive 9.900 points for the Cobras. The Cobras claimed two perfect 10's in Heat 2 and 3, taking their cumulative score up to 96.100. Despite the 15 minute intermission, Coker's energy continued on into the Toss Event of the competition. Amber Garcia kicked off with Solo Toss and scored 9.250 points for Coker. The Cobras kept their pace with another 27.700 points. King took their cumulative score up to 119.800 to round out the Toss Event. Following up, Madison McAfee and Paula Urquidi started off the Tumbling Event with 8.700 points. Tori Bosner, Jada Dalton, Lelia Brozowski, and Priscilla Dalton competed their Tumbling Heat with 7.850 points. Coker boosted their cumulative score to 174.300 points in the final heats of the Tumbling Event. Rounding out the competition, the Cobras posted  91.650 out of 107.000 points in the team event. Coker took down King with an overall score of 265.950 to 260.170 and set another program high to end the night.
