Bio
In his third year of coaching, Parland led the Cobras to a 10-12 overall record and a 3-6 conference record. Parland also coached Stephen Spitko to a 6th-place ranking in the national open mat ranking and a 13th-place ranking in the NWCA polls. Along with Spitko, Parland coached Corey Gallivan, who took a 3rd place finish in the NCAA DII Super Regional in the 125lb weight class and advanced to the NCAA DII National Tournament.
In his second year of coaching, Parland was able to lead the Cobras to a 9-5 overall, a 4-4 conference record, and a 4-2 record. Parland was able to coach Noah Korenoski to a 5th place finish at the NCAA DII Super Regionals, and Omar Armengol, who placed 3rd overall at the NCAA DII Super Regionals and advanced to the NCAA DII National Tournament.
In his first year of coaching, Parland picked up five wins and coached 5th-place finisher, Noah Korenoski, at the NCAA DII Super Regionals.
Rob Parland ‘17, ‘18 has been named Coker University’s new head wrestling coach on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022
Parland returns to Hartsville from nearby St. Andrews University, where he was the head coach for both the men’s and women’s wrestling programs. Prior to St. Andrews, Parland served on the Coker University wrestling coaching staff for three years as a graduate assistant. During his time on the Coker staff, Parland helped guide the Cobras to a No. 25 national ranking in 2020. He also coached six national qualifiers, five All-Conference selections, and one Super Region II champion. In 2019-20, the team posted a 3.65 team grade point average and boasted seven National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans.
Parland wrestled for the Cobras from 2013-17, ranking third all-time in career wins with 51, while his 22 wins in 2014-15 are tied for seventh all-time on the single-season win list.
Parland holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and a minor in Business Administration and a Master of Science in College Athletic Administration from Coker.
He resides in Hartsville with his fiancée Laine.
