Coker University

Associate Professor of Education Karen Carpenter serves as Coker’s Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR). A member of the Coker College education faculty since 2011, Carpenter was appointed as FAR in August of 2015. She currently serves as the Dean of the Wiggins School of Education. 

She has served on several committees during her time at Coker, including serving as the Chair of the Wiggins School of Education Faculty Search Committee and Chair of the Academic Standards Committee.

As Coker’s FAR, Carpenter administers the NCAA recruiting test to all coaches, reviews any NCAA policy violations, facilitate postgraduate scholarship applications and chair the faculty athletic committee that approves all athletic schedules.

Carpenter received her bachelor’s degree in special education from Eastern Michigan University. She also holds a Master of Education in elementary education and a Doctor of Philosophy in Literacy Studies from the University of Nevada.
