In Pennington's second season, the Cobras won the program's first South Atlantic Conference Conference Carolinas Championship while posting a 6-2 record. In addition, Kelsey Gibbons was named to the SACCC All-Tournament Team.
Pennington helped the Cobras to 10 wins in 2019, while goaltender Kelsey Gibbons was named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 30.
Alex Pennington joined the Coker University Field Hockey staff in August 2019.
Pennington played Division I field hockey at Ohio University of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in Athens, Ohio prior to her time at Coker. She was a goalkeeper as well as a team captain. In addition, she was named to the All-MAC Academic First Team as well as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad two years in a row. She was also an Athletic Honor Roll and a Dean's List selection in her time at OU.
The Easton, Pa. native holds a Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training from Ohio University.
