Bio
HARTSVILLE, S.C.-Eric Lawhorn has been named Coker University as the new Manager of Facilities and Event Operations announced today September 20th by Vice President of Athletics and Athletic Facilities, Dr. Lynn Griffin.
Lawhorn was elevated Assistant Athletics Director of Facilities and Event Operations in July of 2025.
Lawhorn's most recent position was at Long Island University Athletics, where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operations department at both the Post and Brooklyn campuses. Lawhorn successfully managed game day operations for over 30 NCAA Division I sports and supervised a staff of full-time and student workers. Prior to his time at Long Island University, Lawhorn worked at Xavier University as an Operations Assistant at the Cintas Center. He was later promoted to Athletics Operation Assistant, where he expanded his responsibilities to cover multiple on-campus facilities and fields. Lawhorn's duties included training employees, managing game day activities, and acting as a liaison between departments in athletics. Lawhorn's experience also includes positions with the Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball, Tennessee Smokies Baseball, Baseball Info Solutions, and the Western & the Southern Open Tennis. These roles allowed him to gain valuable experience in facility maintenance, gameday operations, and event planning. Lawhorn holds a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Sports Administration from Xavier University. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Science from Ohio University, where he majored in sports management and minored in economics and business administration. "I am extremely excited to join the athletic department at Coker. I hope to come in and immediately contribute a helping hand to student-athletes, coaches, and everyone on campus. I look forward to meeting everyone and getting settled in South Carolina." said Eric Lawhorn. Lawhorn's appointment is effective immediately. He will play a crucial role in overseeing the departments operations, game day activities, and facility maintenance.
