Coker’s Griffin to be Inducted into Tarleton State Hall of Fame
Coker VP of athletics and facilities Lynn Griffin will be inducted into the Tarleton State Hall of Fame in June.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College vice president of athletics and facilities Lynn Griffin will be inducted into the Tarleton State Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 1 in Stephenville, Texas. She will enter with the entire 1991-92 women’s basketball team.
“Twenty years after reaching the national championship game, I am honored to be part of the first team that Tarleton will induct into the athletics hall of fame,” Griffin said. “It was a special team and it is great to see this group be recognized for its achievements.”
Griffin served as an assistant coach for the TexAnns for two years while completing her master’s degree. During her second season under head coach Jan Lowrey, Tarleton State reached the NAIA Division II National Tournament, finishing second to Northern State College of South Dakota. Boasting four All-Americans that year, the TexAnns compiled a 30-8 overall record with an 8-0 mark in District VIII play. They finished the season ranked second overall in Division II.
Griffin earned a Master of Education with an emphasis in exercise and sport studies from Tarleton State. She also holds a doctor of education with a sports management specialization from Northcentral University.
In addition to the women’s basketball team, two football players, one men’s basketball player and an athletic booster will also be inducted into the hall of fame.
