Lamberti Named HoopDirt Coach of the Week
7-0 start leads Lamberti to coach of the week recognition
Hartsville, SC. - Michael Lamberti has been named the Division II Coach of the Week by HoopDirt following Coker's 2-0 record last week. The Cobras took down Emory and Henry in comeback fashion before routing Mars Hill over the course of the week to help Lamberti earn the honor.
Coker is currently off to a 7-0 start which is the best start in program history, and was ranked 24th in last weeks coaches poll. This is the first time the Cobras have been ranked in the top 25 since the 1996-97 season. Lamberti, who is in his second season, has the Cobras setting record numbers nationally. Coker currently leads the nation in numerous statistics while also having scored over 100 points in every game this season.
Lamberti was recognized for last weeks performances in which Coker erased a 15 point deficit at Emory and Henry thanks to a Sebastian Cole three pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining on Wednesday. They followed that performance up by beating Mars Hill on Saturday. Coker never trailed in that contest and lead by as many as 29 points in the second half.
Coker returns to action Wednesday, when they travel to Anderson, before returning home to host Tusculum on Saturday.
