Coach DeVore Selected to Coach at the 2024 NCAA College Basketball Academies
Melissa DeVore has been selected to coach at the 2024 NCAA College Basketball Academies. This is a significant honor for Coach DeVore, as the Academies provide prospective student-athletes with a unique opportunity to experience the college basketball environment.
The NCAA College Basketball Academies are organized with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). These developmental summer programs offer high-level basketball competitions along with life skills instruction. Participants will receive training in basketball skills, participate in games, and attend courses on NCAA eligibility, recruiting processes, name, image, and likeness opportunities, agents, and the transfer portal.
The 2024 College Basketball Academies will take place in late July at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The men's Academy will run from July 23 to July 25, while the women's Academy will take place from July 27 to July 29. This event is the only opportunity for NCAA Division I Basketball Coaches to attend during this period.
Prospective student-athletes can qualify for the Academies through one of three pathways: the JUCO Pathway, the Team Pathway, or the Individual Pathway. The Individual Pathway allows Division I basketball head coaches to vote and select up to 300 players from the classes of 2025 and 2026 to participate in the Academies.
Participants selected to attend the Academy and one parent or legal guardian will have their travel, lodging, and meal expenses covered by the NCAA if allowed by their state high school association. Additionally, all coaches and staff working at the Academies must obtain a USA Basketball Gold Coach License.
Coach Melissa DeVore's selection to coach at the 2024 NCAA College Basketball Academies is a testament to her coaching abilities and dedication to the development of young student-athletes. This will be her second year being selected. Her involvement in this prestigious event will undoubtedly positively impact the players under her guidance and will contribute to the overall success of the Academies.
