Kelsi Scott Named Second Southeast All-Region First Team

NFCA announces 2024Division II All-Region teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has revealed the 2024 NFCA Division II All-Region teams. This year's squads are comprised of 209 student-athletes from 110 programs.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated their student-athletes and voted for the teams. All the honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2024 NFCA Division II All-America squads.

West Texas A&M University (South Central) and Wilmington University (East) led the way with six honorees. All six Lady Buffs were named to the first team with three first-teamers from the Wildcats.

Six programs – Augustana University (Central), Colorado Mesa University (South Central), Mississippi College (South), Pittsburg State (Central), University of North Georgia (Southeast) and University of Indianapolis (Midwest) – took home five plaudits apiece. The NightHawks collected four first-team selections, while the Vikings, Gorillas and Greyhounds had three each. The Choctaws and Mavericks posted two and one first-team honors, respectively.

There were eight more institutions – Auburn University Montgomery (South), Caldwell (East), Charleston (Atlantic), Pace University (East), Seton Hill University (Atlantic), Trevecca Nazarene University (Midwest), Western Washington (West) University and Wingate University (Southeast) – that captured four recognitions. All four Charleston Golden Eagles were selected to the first team with three student-athletes from Caldwell, Pace, and Seton Hill nabbing first-team awards.

Charleston and Seton Hill matched for the Atlantic Region's top programs as did Western Washington in the West. All of WWU's selections were second-teamers, with California State University San Marcos and Sonoma State University as two programs in the West to have multiple first-team honorees.

Conference players and pitchers of the year from member institutions (must be nominated by member head coach and receive votes) are added to the second team if they were not already voted to an All-Region squad.

 Kelsi Scott had an impressive season at the plate, finishing with a batting average of .433 and an on-base percentage of .463. She had 65 hits, including 3 doubles and 3 triples, and drove in 15 runs.

Scott showed her speed on the base paths, stealing 19 bases while only being caught stealing 5 times. Her aggressive baserunning was a key factor in helping Coker generate runs throughout the season.

In addition to her offensive contributions, Scott also displayed strong defensive skills in the outfield. She made several key plays, showing off her range and arm strength to help her team on the defensive side of the ball.

Overall, Kelsi Scott had a standout season and was a key player for the Cobras. Her hitting, baserunning, and defensive abilities were instrumental in the team's success, and she will be missed as she moves on from the program. Congratulations to Kelsi Scott on a fantastic season!
