Five Cobras Land on Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team
Five Coker University female student-athletes were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Five Coker University student-athletes were named to the 2023 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, the College Sports Communicators announced today. The field hockey trio of Britt Kabo, Skyler Earle and Kiarra Rivera were named, while Jenna Werle of women's golf and Madeline Hart of women's lacrosse rounded out the honorees for the Navy and Gold.
Kabo finished her four years in the classroom with a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, while majoring in business administration. The native of Maarssen, Netherlands has earned Coker University President's List honors in each of her eight semesters in Hartsville. The honors graduate had no shortage of conference and national academic accolades also, being named to the SAC Commissioner's honor roll four times, a member of the Division II National Academic Squad four times, earning the NFHCA DII Scholar of Distinction Award four times and received the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award three times.
Earle, who graduated in December 2022 with a bachelor's degree in biology, finished her academic career with a 3.863 cumulative grade point average. She earned Coker University President's or Deans Lists honors in each of her nine semesters in Hartsville. The Akron, N.Y. native has been named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll five times, earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award and been named to the NFHCA DII National Academic Squad four times, while earning NFHCA DII Scholar of Distinction honors on three occasions.
Rivera, who graduated in May 2022 with a bachelor's degree in early childhood & elementary education, is currently enrolled in Coker's masters program for curriculum and instructional technology. She finished with a 3.856 cumulative grade-point average in her undergraduate studies and currently has a 4.0 in her post-graduate studies. She has earned either President's or Deans Lists accolades each of her academic terms at Coker. The York, Pa. native has been named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll five times, earned D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award honors four times and has been named to the NFHCA DII National Academic Squad on four occasions.
Werle, a two-year member of the Coker women's golf team, has a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average during her four semesters in Hartsville. The Cocoa, Fla. native majored in criminology while earning President's List honors in each academic term. She was a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll twice, earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award twice and was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar in 2022. She was also named the winner of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Elite 23 Award, which goes to the highest academic achieving student-athlete and each of the 23 conference championships. Furthermore, she was also the recipient of the Dr. Jim Lemke Scholar Athlete Award and the 2023 FANG Awards, which goes to the senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
Hart, a sophomore on the Coker University women's lacrosse team, has a 3.763 cumulative grade-point average. She has been named to the President's or Deans List during three of her four semesters in Hartsville, while majoring in Biology. Additionally, the Surfside Beach, S.C. native has been named to the SAC Commissioner's honor roll on two occasions and has earned the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award once.
About Academic All-District/American presented by CSC
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.50. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic AllAmerica® honorees will be announced June 22. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
