Coker Athletic Programs Complete Over 4,000 Hours of Community Service in August and September

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker Athletics is proud to announce the completion of 4,530 service hours from the Cobras 22 athletic programs over the months of August and September. 

In all, Coker student-athletes participated in 26 volunteer opportunities in categories such as civic and community service, children and youth community service, human services, arts and culture community service, public safety community service, and education community service. 

"One of our values as an athletic department is service and our student-athletes have been actively involved in the first month that they have been in Hartsville," said vice president for athletics and athletic facilities, Dr. Lynn Griffin.  " The Hartsville community is important to Coker and we want our student-athletes to engage in the community and make a difference".  

Community service opportunities Coker student-athletes participated in included assisting in operations for the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, packing food bags for Carolina Kids, building houses for the Darlington County Habitat for Humanity, helping run the Fall Paddle Fest and RSO Fest, and assisting at the American Family Day.
