HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) interacted with students from the Southside Early Childhood Center Monday (Dec. 2) morning.
Members of the SAAC visited numerous classes at the Southside Early Childhood Center and read stories to the students. In addition, members of the SAAC engaged in conversations with the students about what they wanted for Christmas before they visited Santa Claus at their school. The students were also thrilled when they received a surprise visit from Stryker the Cobra.
"At the beginning of the school year, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee discussed the importance of getting out into the Hartsville Community, and today was a great first step," said Associate AD for Internal Operations and Compliance Jennifer Bell. " Our student-athletes and coaches did a phenomenal job, and I'm pretty sure the students enjoyed it as well."
Today marked the first day of the growing relationship between the Coker College SAAC and Southside Early Childhood Center.
"We appreciate the staff at Southside Early Childhood Center allowing us to visit, and we look forward to the next opportunity to spend time with the children," stated Bell. "In fact, we plan to work with the local schools on a consistent basis throughout the year, as this is our way of giving back and showing appreciation for the community's support of Coker College athletics."
