Hartsville, SC- Mya Wasswa is a guard for Coker's women's basketball team and is this month SPC Credit Union November Student-Athlete of the Month, announced today (Tuesday, December 5th) by the Coker University Athletics Department. Mya Wasswa shine in a game vs Southern Wesleyan where her team took win 75-49.  Wasswa had 28 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals while going 11/18 from the field and 3/5 from three and hitting all of her free throws. 

Coker Women's Basketball team secured a dominant win against Southern Wesleyan on November 15th, 2023. The final score was 75-49, with Coker showcasing their superiority in all four quarters of the game.

In the first quarter, Coker took an early lead with a score of 17-15. They continued their strong performance in the second quarter, outscoring Southern Wesleyan 17-10. Heading into halftime, Coker had a comfortable 34-20 lead.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the game, as Coker extended their lead even further with a score of 23-14. Southern Wesleyan struggled to keep up with Coker's offensive prowess and found themselves trailing by 23 points heading into the final quarter.

Coker closed out the game strongly, outscoring Southern Wesleyan 18-10 in the fourth quarter. Their efficient offense and solid defense proved to be too much for Southern Wesleyan to handle.

For Coker, Kamari Thompson stood out with an impressive performance, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Mya Wasswa also contributed significantly with 28 points, including three three-pointers. Dominique Rodriguez provided a solid overall performance, contributing 3 assists and 2 steals.

Mya has helped the team go 5-1 in the month of November and the team is currently sitting at the top of thier standings.
