HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker women's cross country runner Shauntel Smullen has been selected as the Sodexo Student-Athlete of the Month for October 2014.

Smullen had an outstanding month of October as she led the Cobra women’s cross country team to top five finishes in two of three meets, including a first place finish at the Francis Marion Invitational. In addition to leading her team to the championship, Smullen’s second place finish individually also set a new Coker record of 18:55 in the 5k race at the FMU Invitational.
