Cross Country Teams to Run at Francis Marion Friday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker men's and women's cross country teams will hit the course again on Friday (Oct. 16) when they travel to Florence, S.C. for the Francis Marion Invitational.

Last time out, both teams finished 20th in their respective races at the Royal Challenge in Charlotte on Oct. 9. Jacob Chebii led the way for the men, setting a new 8k school record with a time of 25:46 and finishing in 36th. Noah Cook moved himself into third place on Coker's all-time list for the 8k race, notching an 89th place finish with a time of 26:33.5. Tom Sizeland came in at 157th place with a time of 27:43. Brandon Mullins finished 213th in 28:45.5, while Razzel Kiplaget finished 219th in 28:47.8. Luke Elliot (224th, 28:50.3) and Adam White (289th, 31:09.8) also ran for the men.

In the women's race, Hannah Weibel was the Cobras top finisher (68th) with a time of 19:40.9. Mercy Muhuhu (111th, 20:09.9), Shauntel Smullen (126th, 20:24.6), Breanna Sullivan (157th, 20:59.4), Jarmeela Shaw (228th, 22:29.6) and Vanessa Pina (234th, 22:34.8) also ran for Coker. Muhuhu's time moved her onto the school's all-time Top 15 list for the 5k event.  

The races are slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
