Cobras to Take on Royal Challenge Friday

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker men's and women's cross country teams will run at the Royal Challenge on Friday (Oct. 9) in Charlotte, N.C.

The men's team's last action came on Sept. 23 at the USC Open where they took the top six spots in the race. Jacob Chebii won the two-mile race with a time of 10:11.23. Noah Cook followed in second posting a time of 10:34.09. Tom Sizeland (10:56.72), Joe Altieri (11:03.62), Devin Lowry (11:12.05) and Luke Elliot (11:23.23) rounded out the top six. Demetrius Davis also posted a time of 18:02.78.

The women's team, recently ranked ninth in the Southeast Region, last ran at the Wingate Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 26, where they wrapped up seventh place. Hannah Weibel locked up a 25th-place finish in 24:13.13. Mercy Muhuhu (56th, 25:18.87), Breanna Sullivan (65th, 25:41.59), Shauntel Smullen (67th, 25:42.05), Lisa Foster (78th, 26:00.09) and Vanessa Pina (107th, 27:45.19) also ran for Coker.

The races are slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
