Cain Sets Coker Record at Charlotte 49'er Invitational
Freshman Brandon Cain sets Coker 8k record, as men finish 29th of 40 teams and the women finished 35th of 36 teams.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Freshman Brandon Cain (Graham, N.C.) set a new Coker College record for an 8k race with a time of 26:33 in the Charlotte 49'er Cross Country Invitational at McAlpine Park in Charlotte.
Overall the men finished 29th of 40 teams, mostly Division I teams, and were 11 of 15 Division II schools. The women's team finished 35th of 36 teams and 15 of 16 Division II schools.
Dylan Bates (Scarborough, Ontario) ran a 27:33 and Derek Nix (Toms River, N.J.) came in at 29:23. Josh Peterson (Boca Raton, Fla.) posted a 29:45, while Thad Sulek (Hilton Head, S.C.) and Quinn Wenger (Sumter, S.C.) came in at 30:45 and 35:20 respectively.
Stephanie Shaw (Aiken, S.C.) led the Cobras in the women's 5k race with a time of 20:58. Cristina Vital (Dallas, Texas) came in at 23:05 and Kirsten Sanders (Union, S.C.) finished the meet at 23:42. Robyn Risher (Elloree, S.C.) posted a time of 24:21 and Aliese Gregory (Aiken, S.C.) finished at 25:25.
The next meet for the Cobras is on Oct. 8 at the Augusta State Invitational in Evans, Ga.
