Coker Women’s Cross Country Picked Eleventh in South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll

SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE FULL RELEASE

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University women's cross country team was picked eleventh in the 2019 South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches' poll, announced by the league today (Thursday, Aug. 22). 

Defending league champion Queens (N.C.) topped the poll with 11 votes and 132 points, while Anderson (S.C.) took second with 113 points. Lenoir-Rhyne was close behind and took third with 107 points. Wingate took fourth with the remaining first-place vote and 97, and Catawba was tabbed fifth with 94 points. Carson-Newman (93 points), Tusculum (77 points), Lincoln Memorial (63 points), Mars Hill (48 points), Newberry (40 points), Coker (33 points) and UVa-Wise (27 points) rounded out the poll. 

In Peter Early's first season as head coach a year ago, the Cobras took 11th at the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships. This season, the Cobras return five ladies from last year including senior Tiffany Taylor and junior Chauntress Like

The Cobras open up the 2019 season at the UNCP Cross Country Twilight event at UNC Pembroke on Sept. 6.
