Hartsville, SC - The Cobras fought valiantly today in the DeLoach Center but ultimately couldn't come away with a victory.
Game 1 vs WV Wesleyan (2-3 Loss: 19-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23, 11-15)
The third five-setter in a row for the Cobras failed to produce a win as they fell 2-3 in this one. This was a back-and-forth affair all morning long as they traded sets along with points. Coker surged back in the fourth to stretch this one to five, but couldn't hold on for the win. Taylor Hills had a solid outing for the Cobras, recording 14 kills and 10 digs.
Game 2 vs USC Aiken (0-3 Loss: 19-25, 18-25, 21-25)
The Cobras showed lots of promise in this one, putting together some great runs against a team that qualified with an at-large bid for the DII National Tournament last season. The third set was the true highlight, as Coker erased a deficit to give the Pacers a scare but couldn't pull through down the stretch. Cayla Gilmore led the team in kills with 9 while Alyssa Carey and Laila Hixon led the team in digs with 6 apiece. Hixon also pitched in 12 assists to lead the team in that category.
The Cobras are back in action tomorrow night, facing off against Belmont Abbey in the nightcap game of the Coker Cobra Classic at 7 PM ET.
