Coker Drops Five Set Battle to Royals

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker women's volleyball team hosted the Queens University of Charlotte Royals Thursday (Oct. 12) in South Atlantic Conference action. The Cobras came from two sets down to even the match, but lost the fifth set and therefore the match (14-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 11-15).

Offensively, the Navy and Gold were led by Madison Bingle's career-high 20 kills. Bingle completed her double-double with 19 digs, alongside two block assists. Taylor du Bray's 15 kills and 16 digs made her the second Cobra to reach double figures in two categories. Christen Bragg tallied 15 digs and 46 assists. Bethany Prochnow made her presence known at the net with four solo blocks and one assisted. Alexis Berles had eight kills on the night, capped off with five total blocks, two solo and three assisted. Missy Reid made an impact with her 21 digs, as did Kara Overholt's 30.

Next up for the Cobras is a home tri-match Saturday (Oct. 14) with University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Wingate University coming to Hartsville. The Navy and Gold will be in action against UNC-P at 2:00 p.m. and a conference match with Wingate at 7:00 p.m.
