Cobras Bring in Braves and Bulldogs for Tri-Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College women's volleyball team will host a tri-match featuring University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Wingate University on Saturday (Oct. 14). The Cobras will square off with the Braves at 2:00 p.m. and the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Wingate will be the "home" team when they take on UNC-P at 4:00 p.m.

The Cobras have won the last two out of three against South Atlantic Conference opponents. Madison Bingle is coming off a career-high 20 kills against Queens (N.C.) on Thursday. Both Missy Reid and Kara Overholt had season-highs in digs with 21 and 30, respectively. Taylor du Bray leads the offensive strike with 194 kills with an average of 2.85 kills per set, which is good enough for fifth in the SAC. She is followed by Bingle's 173 kills, averaging 2.44 kills per set. Alexis Berles is the most efficient on the offensive attack with a .249 hitting percentage. Christen Bragg heads up the assist category with 679 on the season, which places her third overall in the conference. Bragg also leads in service aces with 16, while four other Cobras also have double-digit service aces (Berles, Overholt, du Bray, and Bingle). As the libero, Overholt averages 5.07 digs per set for a total of 360, which is third in the conference. Bethany Prochnow is second in the SAC with her 14 solo blocks, which also leads the Navy and Gold. Berles's 11 solo place her fourth, while 42 block assists tie her for ninth overall.

As a team, the Navy and Gold had season-high digs against Queens (N.C.) with 106.

The Braves are led offensively by Makaylah Elliott with 128 kills and Madelyn Ashwell's 116. Miranda Cada is the assist leader with 274, followed by Bailee Jones with 207. Elliott heads up the blocking with 72 total, seven solo and 65 assisted. Cada's service aces are the team-high with 18 and Cayce Bell has 11. Bell defensively leads with 357 digs, averaging 5.85 per set. As a team, the Braves have 688 kills, 662 assists, 1062 digs, and 131 total blocks.

Going into the weekend, Wingate is led by Katie Bludau with 201 kills, at a 4.37 per set average. Anna Holmquist is second with 124. Rachel Alles has assisted on 469 kills, a 10.66 average per set. Holmquist is also the lead Bulldog blocker with 50, three solo and 47 assisted. Kori Adams has the highest number of service aces, 24. Three other Wingate servers have 10 or more (Bludau, Rachel Truslow, and Phoebe Havenaar). Adams is also the leader in digs with 231. As a team, the Bulldogs have 738 kills, 696 assists, 918 digs, and 109.5 total blocks.
