Cobras Host Bears in SAC Play on Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College women's volleyball team welcomes the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears to the DeLoach Center for a South Atlantic Conference match on Saturday (Oct. 7) at 2:00 p.m.

The Cobras are coming off of a conference win against Catawba on Tuesday (Oct. 3) in a 3-1 victory. Taylor du Bray is coming off  22 and 16 kill performances in the past two matches and has totaled 163 kills on the season, which leads the team and is sixth overall in the SAC. She also has the second most digs with 238. Madison Bingle has the second highest kill total with 143 and is third on the season in digs with 225. Kara Overholt leads the Navy and Gold in digs with her 312, which is fourth overall in the conference, and averages 5.03 digs per set.

Defensively, Chloe Attram leads the team in solo blocks, while Alexis Berles is the top assisting blocker and overall blocker. Berles also has the highest hitting percentage for the Cobras at .257. Christen Bragg heads up the assist category with 584, which is good for second overall in the conference and her 305 in conference play is also second. Berles, Bragg, Overholt, and du Bray are all tied for 16th in the SAC service aces list with 14.

Going into the weekend, the Bears are offensively led by Brooke Redmond's 131 kills, which ties her for 11th in conference overall, and her 3.12 kills per set, landing her sixth within conference matches. Redmond's 136 digs is good for second on the team. Ashley Markland is first in digs with 139. Anna Smith's 190 assists sets up the offense and she averages 5.43 assists per set. Emily Steele heads the Bears' service ace list with 11. Defensively, Jaclyn Denny leads the way in blocking, 13 solo and 37 assisted, for a total of 50. Denny's blocks per set tops the conference overall and puts her in third with in SAC play. She is also seventh overall in the hitting percentage category.
