Novoa-Miralles Joins Cobras Volleyball Staff

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Jonathan "Jay" Novoa-Miralles joined the Coker College volleyball staff in August of 2017 as announced by Dr. Lynn Griffin, vice president of athletics and athletic facilities.

He graduated from Barton College in Wilson, NC with degrees in both Business Administration and Sport Management in May 2017. While there, he was a captain for the men's volleyball team. As the starting libero, Novoa-Miralles helped the Bulldogs claim their first Conference Carolinas Championship in school history. This accomplishment granted Barton their first bid to the 2017 NCAA Volleyball Championship, where they were eliminated by the eventual national runner-up, Brigham Young University.

"I'm extremely excited that Jay has chosen to join our programs [men's and women's volleyball]," says Head Coach Julia Rowland. "He brings a wealth of playing experience in several positions and he's been a part of a winning program at Barton. It is my hope that he will be able to share that experience with our teams and push us to the next level."

Novoa-Miralles was also on staff with the Barton College women's volleyball team, who also won a conference title in the fall of 2016. Academically, he was a member of the Conference Carolinas All-Academic team in both 2016 and 2017. He was named the recipient of the Barton men's volleyball sportsmanship award in 2016.
