Bingle Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released today the listing of Academic All-District First Team members for women's volleyball, and listed among them was Coker College student-athlete Madison Bingle.

Each year, CoSIDA elects Academic All-District members across NCAA Division I, II, III, and "College Division." The College Division is comprised of NAIA, two-year, and Canadian student-athletes. Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members—usually an institution's Sports Information Director— and must carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Nominated student-athletes must also be of sophomore athletic eligibility and be significant contributors to the success of their team.

Those selected as First Team Academic All-District will be eligible for the All-American team to be selected later in the season.

Bingle, a social sciences major, carries a 4.0 cumulative grade point average and is a standout outside hitter for the Cobras. Bingle has started in all 26 matches and 94 sets for the Cobras this season. She has been an offensive weapon for Coker with 181 kills, good for the second on team. In addition, Bingle has posted impressive numbers in service aces (26), digs (249), and total blocks (40).

"Madison deserves this award as she works hard in the classroom and on the court", said head women's volleyball coach Julia Rafalowski. "She has set lofty goals for herself in the classroom and has aspirations to attend law school, so this is just another step for her in obtaining her goals."

Bingle and the Coker women's volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow (Nov. 4) night when they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne to take on the Bears at 7 p.m.
