Braves Rally to Steal Five-Set Victory Over Cobras

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker College women's volleyball team dropped a non-conference road matchup to the UNC Pembroke Braves 3-2 on Tuesday (Nov. 3)

The Cobras prevailed in set one 25-22 despite facing an early 10-4 deficit. The Braves would bounce back to win a tightly contested second set 26-24. It would be déjà vu for the Navy and Gold in set three, winning it 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead. UNCP would force a decisive fifth after winning set four 25-22. The two squads traded blows in the final set with the Braves squeezing out a 15-13 win and 3-2 victory.

Alexis Berles led the charge for the Cobras. She posted a team-high 14 kills and a .361 hitting percentage. Madison Bingle and Regan Kennen were also offensive threats, finishing with 12 and 10 kills each. Not to be outdone, Megan Hardy posted nine kills on the night. Setter Christen Bragg facilitated the offense with a season-high 44 assists

Defensively, five Cobras posted 10-plus digs. Rachel Waters led the way with 28 digs. Kara Overholt and Bingle tallied 22 and 21 digs apiece. Kennen and Bragg also chipped in with 14 and 13 digs each.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Nov. 6) when they travel to Queens to take on the Royals. First set is set for 7 p.m.
