Cobras Take Two to Open Up 2015-16 Season

RALEIGH, N.C.- The Coker College women's volleyball team picked up wins over Cheyney University and Shaw University to open up the 2015-16 campaign on Saturday (Sept. 5). The Cobras defeated Cheyney 3-0, and then turned around to beat Shaw 3-0 in match two.

The Cobras took down Cheyney in match one by scores of 25-10, 25-11, and 25-18. Leading the way in the sweep was Madison Bingle who registered a near double-double with nine kills and 10 digs. Cayley Gunter had six kills in her collegiate debut. The duo of Megan Hardy and Shealynn Miller also notched six kills, while Christen Bragg dished out 16 assists to go along with four kills.

In match two, the Cobras won sets one and two 25-14 and 25-18. Set three was tight the entire way, with Coker coming out on top 25-23. Bragg led the attack posting a double-double with 10 kills and 14 assists. Bingle has seven kills and eight digs, while the trio of Gunter, Miller and Alexis Berles recorded five kills.

The Cobras will be at home on Friday to take on Mars Hill. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
