Cobras Return Home for Weekend Matches with Wolves and Trojans

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College women's volleyball team will be back in the friendly confines of the DeLoach Center this weekend, as they host matches against the Newberry College Wolves and the Anderson University Trojans. The Cobras take on the Wolves on Friday (Oct. 24) at 7 p.m. and the Trojans on Saturday (Oct. 25) at noon. Live stats and broadcast can be found on www.cokercobras.com.

The freshman trio of Christen Bragg, Madison Bingle and Megan Hardy leads the Cobras in a number of statistical categories. Bragg has registered a team-leading 554 assists on the season, which is good enough for eighth in the South Atlantic Conference. Bingle and Hardy lead the team in the kill column with 131 and 123, respectively, on the year.

The Wolves travel to Hartsville sporting an 11-12 overall record and 5-10 conference mark, following a 3-2 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne University. Logan Hayward and Amanda Soper who have 209 and 200 kills, respectively, on the season lead Newberry.

The Trojans take on the Wingate Bulldogs Friday night and head into the weekend road trip with an 18-5 overall and 11-4 conference record after a 3-0 win over Brevard. Seniors Hailey Pittman, who has a conference leading 293 kills and Shannon Gillespie who has a sixth-best 243 kills, lead Anderson offensively.

First serve for Friday's match is set for 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m., while Saturday's match will begin at noon, with doors opening at 11 a.m.

Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Friday night the Cobras will host their third annual "Dig Pink" event to benefit breast cancer awareness. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support.
