HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team dropped a highly competitive South Atlantic Conference match, 3-0, to the Tusculum College Pioneers on Friday (Oct. 10) night.

The Pioneers outdueled the Cobras to capture set one 25-16. However, sets two and three would be barnburners, with Coker and Tusculum trading points back and forth. The Pioneers would narrowly escape with set victories of 25-21 and 26-24, respectively, to take the match 3-0.

Freshman Brooke Closset led the Navy and Yellow with 12 kills, while Megan Hardy added five kills and six blocks. Samantha Celek and Madison Bingle tallied 15 and 12 digs, respectively, to lead the defense. Christen Bragg's 16 assists and Bailey O'Brien's 14 assists paced the offense for the Cobras.

The Navy and Yellow will be back in action tomorrow (Oct. 11) when they host the Lions of Mars Hill University for Alumni Day. The match is set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
