Women's Volleyball Set to Host Tusculum and Mars Hill in Alumni Weekend Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team will conclude its three-match South Atlantic Conference home stand this weekend as they take on the Tusculum College Pioneers and the Mars Hill University Lions. The Cobras will square off against the Pioneers at 7 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 10) in the Harris E. and Louise H. DeLoach Center, followed by a 12 p.m. matchup with the Lions on Saturday (Oct. 11). Both matches will be broadcast live online at www.cokercobras.com.

The Navy and Yellow are led by do-it-all freshman, Madison Bingle, who is tops on the team with 110 kills, 138 digs and 13 service aces. Freshman Christen Bragg paces the offense with a 7.46 assists per set average on 418 total assists, with both ranking ninth in the SAC.

Tusculum enters the contest at 9-8 overall with an 8-1 SAC record. Megan Hasse and Rachel Garnett lead the Pioneer offense with 207 and 113 kills, respectively. Moriah Jones heads the defense with 328 digs, while Hannah Berling sets the offense with 431 assists.

Mars Hill will take on No. 9 Wingate on Friday (Oct. 10) before playing Coker and enters the weekend with a 5-11 overall record and a 4-5 mark in conference. The trio of Rebecca Butler, Mary Kate Griffin and Lauren Hochstetler lead the Lions with 163, 152 and 145 kills, respectively. Sara Fahrenbrook has dished out 423 assists to pace the offense, while Christen Nicholson leads the defense with 294 digs.

Tickets for both matches are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
