Cobras Drop SAC Opener to Royals

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals in South Atlantic Conference action on Tuesday (Sept. 16) night.

The Cobras and Royals battled fiercely in the first two sets, with Queens narrowly winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-21, respectively. The third set would be all Queens, as the Royals capitalized on Coker's mental errors to capture the set 25-12 and the match 3-0.

Sophomore Toni Hammer and freshman Madison Bingle led the attack with five kills apiece, while freshman Regan Kennen led the defense with 10 digs. Freshman Christen Bragg paced the Cobra offense with 20 assists, snapping her five-match streak of 30+ assists.

The Cobras will return the court on Friday (Sept. 19) for a South Atlantic Conference match against the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University at 7 p.m. It will also be Emmanuel School Night, with Emmanuel faculty, staff and students entering free with proper school identification.
